What is Social Enterprise?


Social enterprises are dynamic businesses with a social purpose who reinvest their profits for community benefit.It is a great way of doing business which contributes to a stronger economy and a stronger community and, it will also promote greener ways of working too.

Well known examples of social enterprises include The Big Issue, Jamie Olivers restaurant Fifteen and the fairtrade chocolate company Divine Chocolate.

The sector includes, co-operatives, credit unions,housing associations,development trusts, social firms,community businesses.

Social enterprise operates across a diverse range of industries including, Fairtrade, recycling,renewable energy, health, social care,leisure,community transport, housing, childcare, hospitalityand catering
