Step-by-step guide

STEP 1

Build your idea for a social enterprise by producing a Business Plan using this downloadable template.

When you submit your business plan, we will assign you a mentor who will give you advice on implementing your idea and on what evidence to collect to demonstrate your impact and link you with other relevant initiatives.

STEP 2

Set up and run your social enterprise!

STEP 3

Review your social enterprise.

Your assessor will visit you, by arrangement, to discuss how your social enterprise is working out in practice by revisiting the goals set out in the business plan and looking at the evidence you have collected.

You will be encouraged to assess the impact you have made looking at:

• The social and/or environmental benefits
• The effectiveness of your marketing campaign
• How much income you have generated
• How sustainable your social enterprise is
• What you have learned along the way and would do differently next time.

This stage will be used to assess whether you have achieved the Social Enterprise Schools Award.

STEP 4

Use the learning from your review to produce a Development Plan and take your social enterprise to the next level, ready for re-assessment in three years.
